  • New Tattoo Policy Allows for More Military Blood Donations

    The Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) has implemented a new policy regarding tattoos that may allow more donors to give blood to the military. This new policy, which went into effect Nov. 30, 2007, allows donors with new tattoos to give blood again after just one week, instead of the previous one-year deferral period; provided the tattoo was acquired in a state-regulated tattoo parlor. This new policy allows the ASBP to accept donations from more individuals wishing to contribute to the militaryAca,!a,,cs blood supply for combat areas and at home.

    Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stopped by Tripler's Command Suite Feb. 20 to talk to Wounded Warriors. Mullen presented each Soldier with a coin after spending about half an hour talking with them. Mullen's visit to Tripler was only one of many stops he and his staff made visiting military installations across the island.

Murray is a family practice physician and flight surgeon assigned as the primary-care staff officer at Medical Command Headquarters. Baugh is an emergency-room staff nurse at Fort Benning, Ga., Medical Department Activity.
