SDDC deputy commander promoted to brigadier general

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. Aca,!" Col. Brian R. Layer, deputy commander of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in a joint ceremony at Fort Eustis, Va., this morning.

AMC Always a Soldier program - passion into purpose

The U.S. Army Materiel Command's Always a Soldier Program was stood up Feb. 9, 2004 by then Commanding General Paul Kern. The program has given many wounded Soldiers employment opportunities, allowing them to continue to serve the Army they love in a different capacity. The program's current Program Manager Sean M. Lewis says he feels fortunate to have found his dream job that allows him to turn his passion into purpose.

The Army's First Sergeant Course has undergone a major change in the way the curriculum is taught. The content is more student driven and is based on lessons learned from today's battlefield. The course has also been shortened from a 21 day training schedule to a 12 day training schdule with extended class hours.
