    Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Task Force War Eagle are spearheading the integration of the Army's remote-operated Force Protection Systems during a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Peninsula. TF War Eagle is deployed to the Sinai Peninsula in support of Multinational Force and Observers (MFO). For the MFO, TF War Eagle is responsible for remote sites, the administration of the MFO South Camp, a mobile observation team, various force protection missions and providing special response teams.

    WIESBADEN, Germany -- "The reserve component is like oxygen for what we're trying to do," said U.S. Army Europe Commander Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges. What U.S. Army Europe is trying to do is keep the foothold in Europe strong using the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard as they face a major drawdown that has spread active duty personnel "paper-thin." "We've only got 30,000, we've got to make it look and feel like 300,000," said Hodges. In order to achieve this goal with the loss of thousands of active duty Soldiers in Europe, the Guard and Reserve plays a vital role in the defense of Europe. Without the reserve component, a term including both the National Guard and Army Reserve, the mission in the theater could not be met, said Hodges.

    The sound of loud music pierced the air as a group of unruly and angry protesters taunted a group of Hungarian Soldiers who stood forming a barricade. The scenario was part of an exercise, deemed Operation Stalwart Strike, meant to replicate a bad day in Kosovo and aimed at honing and improving the unit's quick reaction force and crowd riot control techniques. Unlike previous training exercises, this operation held on April 16, at Camp Marechal De Lattre De Tassigny allowed the unit's to operate in the run phase of the crawl, walk, and run training campaign.

    The 2nd Cavalry Regiment will participate in Saber Strike 16/Dragoon Ride II from May 27 through June 22, 2016. Soldiers with the Regiment will conduct Dragoon Ride II, a vehicle road march using Stryker Combat Vehicles and support vehicles from Rose Barracks, Germany, to Tapa, Estonia, May 27 through June 15, 2016. The convoy will demonstrate the ability to rapidly move a regiment-sized convoyed along two routes and through six countries; covering more than 2,400 kilometers.
