Italian parachute regiment trains at home of Sky Soldiers

Italian paratroopers of the 186th Regiment, Folgore Brigade, stationed in Pisa and Livorno, traveled to Caserma Ederle in Vicenza this month to conduct a regimental level Command Post Exercise, or CPX, at the Vicenza Mission Training Complex. The rotation was the latest in an ongoing series of joint trainings and exchanges with their airborne partners, the Sky Soldiers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team.

Frankfurt Reception Center shuts down operations

U.S. Army Europe helps Montenegro respond to heavy snowfall

In response to a request for assistance from NATO by the government of Montenegro, U.S. Army Europe deployed two Black Hawk helicopters and a support crew of more than 40 Soldiers from USAREUR's 1st Battalion, 214th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade to the Balkan nation. A team of Army reservists from the 7th Civil Support Command's 361st Civil Affairs Brigade is taking part in the operation as well to provide command and control. The Soldiers are in Montenegro to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to areas of the country affected by heavy snowfall. The 12th is based at Katterbach Army Airfield in Ansbach, Germany, and the 361st is based in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Deciding the right words to say to a child was a topic of discussion from Dec. 3-5 at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Garmisch, Germany, during a Deployed Spouses Retreat where 15 spouses from the 527th Military Police Company, 709th MP Battalion., 18th MP Brigade, created a strong bond to work through common struggles regarding the deployment of their loved ones.

ECBC awarded patent for All Hazards Receipt Facility

The U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center's Mobile Labs and Kits Team was awarded a patent in July 2011 for the All Hazards Receipt Facility, a mobile laboratory. "These mobile laboratories are the key to ensuring the safety of lab personnel by taking in an unknown sample directly into a controlled environment. U.S. Soldier first to graduate Polish NCO Academy

Staff Sgt. Tomasz Bartoszyn, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, became the first U.S. Soldier to graduate from the Polish Land Forces NCO Academy in Poznan, Poland, Dec. 9, 2011. While Soldiers from other partner nations routinely train at the U.S. Army Europe's 7th Army NCO Academy in Grafenwoehr, Germany, this is the first time a U.S. Soldier has attended a foreign NCO Academy.

In 1918 on the 11th hour, the 11th day, of the 11th month, Germany signed a peace agreement which ended all hostilities of World War I. It was once called Armistice Day. Now more commonly known as Veterans Day, we honor and remember our fallen comrades of present and past wars. The 529th Military Police Company, 95th MP Battalion, 18th MP Brigade, had the honor of providing a color guard for the Croix Rouge Farm Memorial ceremony Nov. 12, near the memorial site.

His career started in 1959, and the Army has been his passion ever since, and retired Army Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, the president and chief operating officer of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) and the 32nd Chief of Staff of the Army observed Kosovo Force training on November 16 in Europe, after mentoring Noncommissioned Officers and Officers at leadership development discussions on Grafenwoehr and the Hohenfels Training Area.

Kaiserslautern counselor heads to Army competition

Motivated by an infantryman's drive, Staff Sgt. Donmonic Simpson recently proved his ability to mentor Soldiers during U.S. Army Europe's career counselor competition. Simpson, 28, the USAREUR Career Counselor of the Year, now heads home to Washington, where an Army-level board will determine the best career counselor in the Army. Counselors advise Soldiers on career options and advise commanders on the retention program.

MP Corps celebrates 70th Anniversary

More than 850 Soldiers, Family Members and friends from throughout Europe came together Oct. 22 at the Village Pavilion on Patrick Henry Village in Heidelberg, Germany, to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Military Police Corps Regiment. This was the third consecutive year the MP Corps ball in Europe was hosted by the 18th Military Police Brigade. Col. Brian Bisacre, the commander of the 18th MP Bde. presided over the event, and Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, the commanding general of the U.S. Army Europe was the guest speaker for the evening.

The motto of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, "First in Support," was clearly evident during the Department of Army level Client Services Awards ceremony on Kleber Kaserne, here on Oct 13. Annually Army legal services compete for the Army Chief of Staff Award for Excellence in Legal Assistance and The Judge Advocate General Award for Excellence in Claims. The fiscal year 2010 competition was dominated by the 21st TSC law centers which are scattered throughout the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

72nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion partners with German Signaleers in training exercise

WILDFLECKEN, Germany (Oct. 19, 2011) -- Disasters can happen at any moment. When lives are in danger, military forces need to be able to quickly coordinate efforts to help people. One unit in 5th Signal Command was given a great opportunity to train with the German Army to prepare for quick reactionary force operations with the host nation. 5th Signal's 72nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, headquartered in Schweinfurt, conducted a two-day field exercise with the German Army Air Mobile Division (DLO) and the DLO Signal Battalion using a real-world scenario to train.
