    When Derek Fowler began his civilian federal career three months ago, he brought a wealth of skills and knowledge with him. And that was by design. Fowler, a former Marine and now a small arms repairer inspector, comes to Anniston Army Depot with eight years of military service. He is the third employee to be to be hired at the installation under the auspices of the Army Materiel Command's Always a Soldier program since its inception in June 2004.

    UMATILLA CHEMICAL DEPOT, Hermiston, Ore. - The last GB (sarin) munitions stored at the Umatilla Chemical Depot were safely transported today to the Umatilla Chemical Agent Disposal Facility for final destruction. The final load was comprised of 155 mm artillery projectiles. It was the 4,815th Enhanced On-Site Container delivery of the GB campaign that started in September 2004. The campaign will officially conclude when all the projectiles now in the disposal plant are processed through the metal parts furnace. The final munition is expected to be destroyed at the plant within about a week.

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U.S. Army Sustainment Command has selected three companies to provide essential logistics support services to forces in the field. The successful firms will serve as performance contractors under the LOGCAP IV contract.
