Tank removal program is methodical detective work

Howard Syvarth, an environmental hydrogeologist, looks at one of the many old engineering drawing of buildings at Fort Monmouth that may provide clues about where underground storage tanks may be located. Some drawings go back to the 1940s and earlier. The fort's Directorate of Public Works has extracted more than 500 tanks and continues to search for more.
