Port of Yokohama 150th Anniversary

YOKOHAMA NORTH DOCK, JAPAN: Ando Hiroyuki, the city of Yokohama's Manager of the Urban Planning Bureau for U.S .Military Installations, presents Lt. Col. Craig Jorgenson, commander of the 836th Transportation Battalion and Sgt. Maj. Charles D. Berry, the Tanemaru mascot representing the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama. The Tanemaru embodies the spirit of the camphor tree that stands in the courtyard of the Yokohama Archives of History, watching over Japan since the opening of the port 150 years ago. The Tanemaru is on display in the foyer of Building 200 at Yokohama North Dock through October, showing United States Army Japan's support to the Yokohama City's EXPO 150 events from April 28-September 27.
