SATTAHIP, Thailand (Feb. 06, 2009) - Sailors assigned to Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1631 from Assault Craft Unit One and Combat Logistic Battalion 31st Marine expeditionary Unit work hand in hand to unload heavy equipment utilities as they arrived in Sattahip, Thailand. Sailors and Marines were disembarked from forward-deployed amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46) to participate in Exercise Cobra Gold 09 (CG09). CG09 is an annual Thailand and U.S. co-sponsored joint coalition multinational military exercise designed to train a Thai, U.S. and Singaporean Coalition Task Force. The exercise will also include humanitarian civic action projects with participating nations from Indonesia , Japan , Singapore , Thailand and the United States. Exercise CG provides unique and dynamic training opportunities for participating military partners, while promoting relationship building between militaries and local communities.
