USAG Schinnen, NETHERLANDS – Thanks for bringing us a slice of home. The Garrison Commander for U.S. Army Garrison Schinnen, U.S. Army Lt. Col. Fern O. Sumpter, presents Thom Shepherd and the Nashville Songwriters Band a certificate and the gratitude of thousands of service and family members assigned to the Tri-Border region of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands following a concert there to hundreds Jan. 7, 2009. “It’s an honor to be a venue for you and all Armed Forces Entertainment concerts because it means so much to all of us. We’d love to host more shows and you’re certainly welcome back,” Sumpter said to Shepherd. Army Garrisons serve as “the Army’s Home” to provide base operations and quality of life support to military personnel around the world. USAG Schinnen focuses its support to Army, Air Force, Navy and other joint, inter-agency, and international personnel supporting U.S. interests in NATO throughout the Netherlands, Northern Germany, and Northern Belgium – many of whom deploy to NATO operations in Afghanistan.
