Sharing Legacy

Two generations of the Phillips family are now working on Redstone Arsenal. Tom Phillips, left, continues a 51-year legacy of engineering accomplishments that includes working with Dr. Wernher von Braun in the early years of rocketry technology and the space program and currently with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, while his son, Brent Phillips, works as a contracting officer for the Space and Missile Defense Command. Behind them is a booster rocket system that was used in the Saturn I program and that now stands sentinel outside Marshall Space Flight Center’s headquarters.
