An AH-64D Apache attack helicopter from the 1st "Attack" Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, hovers at the end of a runway at Robert Gray Army Air Field, Fort Hood, Texas, Aug. 26. Instead of two pilots inside the aircraft there is only one pilot who is flying one lucky Soldier for a 30-minute ride. A few Apache crew chiefs and non-maintenance troopers got the chance of a lifetime to get a ride in the front seat of the Army's premier attack helicopter, said Baton Rouge, La., native Lt. Col. Charles Dalcourt, commander of 1st Attack.
