Crane Army's Conversion Plant Recycles Munitions Into New Products

A white phosphorus projectile burns in a modified rotary kiln furnace July 22, 2014, at Crane Army Ammunition Activity's white phosphorus-to-phosphoric acid conversion plant where the heated vapors are produced into a phosphoric acid concentration that can be used for agricultural fertilizer. The facility is the only white phosphorus conversion plant in the United States.
