Libero Puccini, a former Italian prisoner of war who recently passed away, stands next to the Camp Atterbury entrance rock in 2004. Puccini carved the inscription while imprisoned at Atterbury during World War II. He was selected to complete the special project by the camp commander at the time. Since the war, Puccini has returned to Camp Atterbury for various memorial and dedication ceremonies.
