During the playing of the National Anthem, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) Soldiers lined the sides of the field, saluting alongside members of the Washington Nationals team and the team mascot, "Screech," dressed in Army fatigues. In recognition of the Army's 239th birthday, the Washington Nationals baseball team hosted an Army recognition day at National's Park, Washington, D.C., June 18, 2014, to honor America's Soldiers. That evening the Nationals played the Houston Astros and ended up winning the game 6-5.
