PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. --
Presidio of Monterey Directorate of Public Works representatives POM DPW and other directorates, an engineer from the City of Monterey, faculty and staff from the California State University, Monterey Bay and Hartnell College, as well as other stake holders situated in and around Ord Military Community and the Presidio met to discuss and study solutions at the Khalil Arabic studies building during the Presidio's annual Master Planning Energy and Sustainability Conference held March 10-13.
Over the course of the conference participants spent a portion of each day outside the conference room in order to get hands-on experience in compiling the data they needed to formulate their sustainability plans, then return to synthesize the data into a master plan, which they could then bring to bear on specific problems or bring down costs.
Although the conference was facilitated by the POM, it was lead by subject matter experts from the UrbanCollaborative, a government contractor which specializes in and has a long history of successful master planning, urban and architecture design on military installations worldwide.
Conserving energy is one of the Army's and, therefore the Presidio of Monterey's, top priorities.
