Darmstadt Lord Mayor Walter Hoffmann and the commander of U.S. Army Garrison Darmstadt, Lt. Col. David Astin, embrace after Hoffman presented Astin with a special going-away gift, a miniature reproduction of the city's "Heiner" statue. "Heiner" is the nickname by which Darmstädter call each other. Present (from left) are Astin's wife, Jong Un Astin; Diane Devens, director of Installation Management Command-Europe; Col. Robert Ulses, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Baden-Württemberg; and USAG Darmstadt Command Sgt. Maj. Harold Littlejohn. The presentation was part of USAG Darmstadt inactivation ceremonies held Aug. 5 in Germany.
