U.S. Army soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division conduct an Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise at the Asymmetric Warfare Training Center's Urban Complex Feb. 24-26, at Fort A.P. Hill, Va. Part of the EDRE took place within the confines of an embassy-like building at the AWTC in order to make the exercise scenario as realistic as possible. The EDRE, a training scenario that requires the Paratroopers to assemble and be ready to deploy anywhere in the world at a moment's notice, is one example of the many operational uses for the AWTC. The AWTC was built to enhance the U.S. Army Asymmetric Warfare Group's mission of identifying capability gaps and providing rapid solution development within various complex operational environments.
