Museum updates design in preparation for new location

FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas " Martin Callahan (left), a museum specialist with the Fort Sam Houston Museum, points out the "most hated uniform in the Army" Oct. 24. Burke and other members of the SALB during the last tour at the old museum, which is closed to the public as it prepares to move to its new location in the U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) historic Quadrangle early next year. Renovations are currently taking place inside the east wing of the Quad as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Jamco Joint Venture LLC, the primary contractor; turn the former staff offices into a new museum. The uniform Callahan is referring to is the polyester "Class B" mint green summer uniform that enlisted female Soldiers wore from 1975 to 1986. The color and fabric of the uniform were not popular with Soldiers.
