Secretary of the Army John McHugh today transferred the eternal flame to its permanent position at the grave site of President John F. Kennedy at
Arlington National Cemetery. Cemetery officials completed restoration of the presidential memorial, and had moved the flame first lit by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy on November 25, 1963, to a temporary, adjacent location. Today's ceremony returned the flame to its permanent place on the Kennedy gravesite. This year marks the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's death.
