Immediate Response 2008, an annual, bilateral security cooperation exercise conducted between U.S. and NATO and coalition partners, is being conducted this month in the Republic of Georgia. It is a long-standing joint chiefs of staff-directed exercise focused on interoperability training and theater security cooperation, and is designed to promote understanding and cooperation between military forces of the United States and its allies. A seven-servicemember team from American Forces Network Europe (AFNE) is conducting live-radio programming and radio/TV news coverage for about 1,000 U.S. Soldiers, Marines and National Guard Soldiers-plus troops from the Georgian, Ukrainian, Azerbaijani and Armenian military services-deployed to the training area. AFNE deployed their Tactical Mobile Radio and Television System to the exercise, their third consecutive Immediate Response exercise, using the tactical broadcasting system.
