K-9 Sgt. Taylor from the 94th Engineer K-9 Detachment, 5th Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., familiarizes herself with the U.S. Army Asymmetric Warfare Group's mobile confined space trainer during the AWG's Subterranean Risk Reduction Exercise here in September. Soldiers from Company B, 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division of the Brigade Modernization Command were also put through the confined space trainer in order to build their confidence in operating within small spaces with limited visibility. To improve the soldiers' overall capabilities in operating within a subterranean environment, various enablers, like the K-9 detachment, were integrated into the exercises training scenarios in order to provide the Soldiers with a variety of assets they could use to mitigate the complex environment.
