Under Secretary of the Army Dr. Joseph W. Westphal (pictured in the background) as he pays his respects at Warriors Walk, which honors the fallen Soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division and attached units, who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Enduring Freedom at Fort Stewart, Ga., Sept. 5, 2013. Soldiers are memorialized with an Eastern Redbud tree planted in their honor. The purpose of Westphal's visit was to underscore the versatility of the force to posture for future requirements and as well as to highlight the concerns of senior Army leaders about the impact of fiscal constraints (furloughs) and reinforce the value/contributions of the Department of the Army Civilian workforce and their families.
