Maj. Gen. Takeyoshi Omori, deputy commander, 4th Division, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, thanks an Army helicopter pilot after an aerial tour of the Yakima Training Center, Wash., Sept. 6, by giving him and his crew a Japanese coin for excellence. Omori got an aerial view of approximately 512 sq. miles of open maneuver training terrain in which the 16th Regimental Combat Team, 4th Division, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, is currently training with American Soldiers as part of Operation Rising Thunder 13. The three-week exercise between Soldiers from I Corps and the 16th RCT is designed to develop all war-fighting functions for both Japanese and U.S. Forces.
