Medal of Honor recipients look on as President Barack Obama cites the courage of Staff Sgt. Ty Carter who he presented the Medal of Honor with at the White House, Aug. 26, 2013. Carter received the nation's highest military award for his extraordinary valor and actions at Combat Outpost Keating, Afghanistan on Oct. 3, 2009. A company-sized force of 53 Soldiers were attacked by more than 300 Taliban fighters resulting in the loss of eight Soldiers and 25 wounded. In February, Staff Sgt. Clinton Romesha received the Medal of Honor for his actions in the same battle.
