Wreath Honoring George Washington

A wreath commemorating the Army's 238th birthday rests in the tomb of the service's first general and later the country's first president, George Washington, June 10, 2013. Washington also created the nation's first version of the Purple Heart, the Badge of Military Merit, which he presented to three enlisted Soldiers on Aug. 7, 1782.
