Traditionally, the oldest and the youngest Soldiers join together to cut a ceremonial birthday cake. Caldwell, commanding general, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) and senior commander fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis, represented Army leadership; Rhodes, Caldwell's senior enlisted advisor, served as the oldest Soldier, and Padilla, geospatial engineer, 512th Engineer Detachment, U.S. Army South, served as the youngest Soldier.
