SENTUL, Indonesia - Several military forces from U.S. Army Pacific, U.S. Navy and Air Force work side-by-side personnel from the Tentara Nasional Indonesia military during Gema Bhakti, a combined Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief Staff Exercise, here June 7.
The exercise is designed to create response planning to assist Indonesia in responding more efficiently should they experience a natural disaster.
Experts in various disaster relief fields discussed issues, emergency responders and support services, face during an emergency and provided insights which allowed roughly 100 participants from both militaries to brain storm ideas to support National and Strategic level decision making processes at the International Peace and Security Center here from June 6-10, 2013.
The Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief exercise is only one event of several included in Garuda Shield 2013, a regularly-scheduled, bilateral exercise sponsored by U.S. Army, Pacific and hosted annually by the Indonesian Armed Forces. GS13 is the latest in a continuing series of exercises designed to strengthens military-to-military cooperation while focusing on international peace support operations. This marks the seventh iteration of this bilateral exercise that takes place in and around Cilodong, Depok Indonesia from June 10-21, 2013.
