Former U.S. Rep. Parker Griffith (right) receives an update on the OH-58F Cockpit and Sensor Upgrade Program from Brad Welch, Prototype Integration Facility, or PIF, team lead, during an August 2009 visit to the US Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center. The aircraft in the foreground is an OH-58D CAT-B trainer loaned to the PIF from the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Eustis, Va. The CASUP Team used the trainer for electrical harness and mechanical modification design early in the program. Eventually, the new OH-58F wiring harness, using modern process-controlled wire, flat braid shielding and a re-layout of components, was reduced in weight by approximately 32 pounds.
