Under Secretary of the Army Joseph Westphal awards Sgt. Joseph Moore, an infantryman with Company C, 1st Battalion, 38th infantry Regiment, Combined Task Force 4-2 (4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division), with the Purple Heart Medal during a ceremony, May 31, 2013, on Forward Operating Base Masum Ghar, Afghanistan. Moore, a Greenville, S.C., native, received the medal for wounds suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, May 11.
