JarMarcus King, Integrated Blast Effects Sensor Suites project lead, R4, Inc., stands with an IBESS system at Forward Operating Base Salerno, May 7, 2013. The IBESS, a data collection system that measures improvised explosive device blast effects on vehicles and soldiers, is intended to give the medical community the data it needs to accurately assess the potential effects on soldiers when their vehicles are hit by IEDs. The project is being implemented through the Rapid Equipping Force, which finds solutions to issues that hamper soldiers in the field, thus increasing soldiers' capabilities.
