Arsenal machinist Joey Zwack holds a basecap for a 81mm mortar system that was machined in about 60 percent less time than using the former process. The new nine-axis machine is currently being installed at the Watervliet Arsenal, N.Y., and if it could talk, via the MTConnect Challenge, production and control planners would have real time information on its operational status.
