This crucifix was carved by Maj. Gerald Fink, United States Marine Corps, in Prison Camp No. 5. Although he arrived at the North Korean prisoner of war camp after U.S. Army Chaplain Emil Kapaun died, Fink was so impressed with the stories fellow prisoners would tell about Kapaun, that he carved the figure in the chaplain's likeness. The crucific was smuggled out of the camp at the end of the war, and brought to the Wichita Diocese in Kansas. It now hangs in Kapaun Mount Carmel Catholic High School in Wichita, Kan.
