Arlington National Cemetery Caisson team

The remains of World War II Army Air Corps aviator 1st Lt. John E. Terpning is escorted by the Arlington National Cemetery Old Guard Caisson team to the pilot's burial site. Terpning was killed with nine crew, May 7, 1944, when their B-24 Liberator crashed into the New Guinea jungle while on a bombing mission. Wreckage and remains were not discovered until 1973. Positive identification was made through DNA sampling in 2013.
