National Guard's State Partnership Program helps build relationships with African nations

Pfc. Javier Ortiz, West Fargo, N.D., and 1st Lt. Frank Amponsah, Ghana Army, watch Spc. Cody Lausch, Hannaford, N.D., cut a piece of detonation cord on the demolition range at Camp Grafton South, south of Devils Lake, N.D., on June 21. The North Dakota Army National Guard's 817th Engineer Company (Sapper), Jamestown, are working with their Ghanaian partners in an exchange visit during annual training. The Sappers are using crater charges and other explosives. North Dakota and Ghana are linked through the Department of Defense-sponsored State Partnership Program.
