The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredge Currituck was off the Virginia coast, July 21, 2012, to dredge within the federal channel of Rudee Inlet. Dredging is an important part of the Corps' efforts, said Jo-Ellen Darcy, assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works, during a Feb. 7, 2013, Senate Environment and Public Works Committee "Oversight Hearing on Implementation of Corps of Engineers Water Resources Policies."
