From left, retired Staff Sgt. Ian Newland, Sgt. Lyle Buehler, Sgt. 1st Class Cedric Thomas and Spc. Sean Lawson are all alive today because of Spc. Ross McGinnis's selfless sacrifice. McGinnis, who received the Medal of Honor posthumously in a White House ceremony Monday, covered a live grenade with his body after it had entered a Humvee that all five Soldiers were riding in. He absorbed the majority of the blast, saving the rest of his crew.
