Soldiers, Defense Force Members have a blast during Orient Shield

Spc. Devin A. Tejada, from Hopkinsville, Ky., a mortarman with Company A, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, based out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, directs his team as they drop mortar rounds on the impact area. The live-fire training was part of bilateral exercises between U.S. Soldiers and Japan Ground Self Defense Force members during Orient Shield 12 at Aibano Training Area near Imazu City, Japan. Orient Shield 12 is a premier exercise designed to strengthen the U.S.-Japan alliance at the tactical level in order to enhance interoperability and combat readiness.
