Reesa Doebbler, a Gold Star Mother, waits for her son's information to come up on a video presentation at the Survivor Outreach Services building, Sept. 26, 2012, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Doebbler was among the Gold Star Mothers who previewed the newly remodeled facility officially, which opened to the public Sept. 29. Among the improvements to the SOS facility is a Fallen Heroes Hall of Remembrance, which provides a place for families and survivors to meet and socialize. Doebbler's son, Staff Sgt. Clayton Bowen, was riding in a humvee with four of his fellow "Spartan Brigade" Soldiers and were on their way to provide security for Afghanistan's presidential election when the vehicle hit an improvised-explosive device. Bowen was one of those lost that day.
