The final tank is uncovered at the Monaca, Pa., World War II fuel storage depot. Each tank could store 1.74 million gallons of fuel. They are 100' across and 30' high with an estimated 350 tons of steel that will be removed and recycled. Groundwater wells and soil sampling showed no contamination from the long-empty tanks. The area will be filled in for use by Potter Township.
