A variety of wild flowers is just a small part of a large garden on the grounds of the Northwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., that recently doubled in size under a horticulture program in which inmates learn some of the ins and outs of gardening and farming. The garden is broken into 15 separate 22-by- 26 plots " one for each prisoner " and boasts quality corn, green beans, peas, cucumbers, Spanish onions, green onions, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, Swiss chard, watermelon, strawberries and zucchini, among other produce.
