Valerie Alston, a performance enhancement specialist with the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness-Performance and Resilience Enhancement Program on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., watches Soldiers with Battery A, 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment, Aug. 22, 2012, during M777 Lightweight Howitzer crew drills in the field. Alston and fellow program specialist Kelly Jones are currently working with crews from the battery to improve their performance through mental skill sets like establishing cue words to help them focus during tasks.
