Army leaders break ground on $9.6 million solar power project

Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Katherine Hammack, assistant secretary of the Army for installations, energy and environment, discuss Tooele Army Depot's Solar Array project in Utah, and the importance renewable energy has on installation security. When completed the solar array could generate energy equivalent to that needed to supply 300-400 homes, 30 percent of the depot's electricity.
