St. George Medallion

SAN ANTONIO - Lt. Gen. William Caldwell IV, presents the St. George Silver Medallion to retired Col. Ernest John "Jack" Davis during an Aug. 15 ceremony at the Army Retirement Community Auditorium. The Order of St. George Medallion is the top award presented to members of the Army's mounted force by the U.S. Armor Association. Davis, 88, is one of the last remaining service members who served on horseback during WWII. During the ceremony, Caldwell, along with Col. Bill Hill II, inducted Davis at the Army Retirement Community auditorium. Davis began his career as an infantryman in the 10th Mountain Division and served 31 years, to include serving through WWII and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
