68th anniversary of the liberation of Guam wreath laying ceremony

The 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) provides ceremonial support of an army full honor wreath ceremony in honor of the 63rd anniversary of the liberation of Guam, the battle for the Northern Marianas, and the War in the Pacific at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery, Va., July 17, 2012. Four U.S. Marines were awarded the Medal of Honor for their service during the battle, including Pfc. Luther Skaggs, who led his mortar team through heavy enemy fire after being severely wounded; Pfc. Leonard Mason, who single-handedly wiped out an enemy machine gun nest despite being mortally wounded; Pfc. Frank Witek, who bravely drew the enemies' fire as his platoon took cover and later was killed as he destroyed a machine gun nest that had them pinned down and Capt. (later Gen.) Louis H. Wilson, Jr., who led his company to take an objective against a much larger enemy force.
