The Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert; Guam congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo; and Northern Mariana Islands congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan joined the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) in an Army full honor wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery, Va., July 17, commemorating the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Guam and the battle for the Northern Mariana Islands during the second World War. The wreath is laid as a tribute to the suffering of the Chamorro people and in humble gratitude for the Marines, Soldiers and Sailors who gave their lives for our freedom. For many decades, especially since the end of World War II, the Army has had a strong presence in the Pacific, working to build long-standing partnerships in a critical region where seven of the world's largest armies reside.
