Wreath Under Guard

June 14, 2012, marked the 237th birthday of the U.S. Army. In recognition of the sacrifices Soldiers and their families have made since the service was founded in 1775, a wreath was placed at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, Va. The Continental Congress authorized enlistment of Soldiers to serve the United Colonies for one year. The Army first stood up with 10 companies of riflemen authorized by congressional resolution.
