Capt. K. Chipanda, a medical officer in the Malawi Defense Force (middle) and Cpl. Simeon Tembo, a French Language assistant in the MDF, attend to patients at the city of Sikese. Both Chipanda and Tembo participated in MEDREACH 11, a U.S. Army Africa-sponsored exercise focused on increasing the combined readiness of medical forces to respond to humanitarian emergencies. At Sekise, an hour and a half drive from the Malawi Defense Force Battalion camp, more than 300 patients were given free medical services.
