Cadet O'Donahue acted as a translator aboard the United States Naval Ship Comfort while on a Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency mission to Ecuador in during the summer of 2011. The USS Comfort, a ship specifically designed as a floating hospital, carried out Operation Continuing Promise, a humanitarian mission to bring health care to third world nations in the Caribbean and countries in Central and South America. On board the ship one of the Cadets' primary responsibilities was to help receive and orient surgery candidates, making them feel comfortable and answering any questions they had.
