Local workers work on an adobe-style building at the 4th Zone Afghan Border Patrol compound Sept. 27, 2011, in western Afghanistan. The roof is comprised of layers of tar paper, clay/dirt, plastic, and hard clay. This style of build retains heat and cooling quite efficiently thus lowering lifecycle costs.
