The new 17- and 15-story office towers at the Department of Defense Office Complex project at the Mark Center in Alexandria, Va., will consolidate about 6,400 employees from various Department of Defense and related agencies throughout the National Capital region. The project - dubbed BRAC 133 after the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure commission's 133rd recommendation -- includes the tallest structures ever built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Army Corps' New York District managed the design and construction of the $1.08 billion project.
